Ralph Lauren, the iconic American fashion designer, did no favors to Hillary Clinton’s style and figure throughout her 2016 Presidential campaign, but First Lady Melania Trump fares far better on her first day alone.

First Lady Melania Trump wore a fitted powder blue sheath dress beneath a matching structured powder blue bolero jacket, and set the stage for an elegant and fashion-forward Presidency.

Hillary Clinton, outgoing Secretary of State and former opposing candidate to Trump, was noticeable during the morning’s events as the wife of Former President Bill Clinton also wore an outfit by designer Ralph Lauren, a white pantsuit that was among her more flattering selections from the fashion label.  The Suffragette White look, while bland, numbers among her most fashionable selections, but throughout the election campaign her choices from Ralph Lauren were less than stellar.

The Ralph Lauren Corp. issued the following statement Friday: “The Presidential Inauguration is a time for the United States to look our best to the world. It was important to us to uphold and celebrate the tradition of creating iconic American style for this moment.”  Indeed they did, and showed a bipartisan spirit in the process, by dressing both the losing candidate and the winning candidate’s wife.

Unfortunately, Ralph Lauren’s attempts to create any iconic American style out of perennially fashion-challenged Hillary Clinton proved to be as much of a failure in the past year as her historic presidential campaign.  Here are a look at some of her more notable choices, which may have been appropriate for a senator from New York whose sartorial choices aren’t subsidi, but were sadly off the mark in terms of Presidential elegance and style.

Perhaps if Hillary Clinton had put her faith in a designer other than Ralph Lauren, who seems to be most at his element when dressing tall, svelte, thin models whose profession it is to make clothes look good regardless of the design, her election campaign might have fared better. There are other American labels and designers with more classic and flattering styles for a mature, professional woman to adopt than the casual, color-blocking, outdated styles Secretary Clinton was paraded around in.

‘With the historic swearing-in of her husband, Donald J. Trump, as the 45th President of the United States, the Mrs. Trump will become America’s new First Lady wearing an American designer who transformed American fashion,’ said Melania Trump’s spokesperson in a statement.

The reveal of First Lady Melania Trump’s Inauguration Day style came this morning as the Trumps arrived at St. John’s Church for a morning worship service, the first in a series of a dozen events lined up for the day.

Following the church service, President Trump and Melania traveled to the White House for a tea with President Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama.  Following the tea, the days main events commenced, with this coat dress holding it’s own through a rigorous series of engagements and ceremonies.

The bespoke garment from Ralph Lauren, meaning it was custom made for First Lady Melania, is made of pale blue double-faced cashmere.

The baby blue dress features a short, double-faced jacket with bold collar cutaway and three-quarter-length sleeves.  Beneath this bolero is a matching lean mock turtleneck dress.  The silhouette has a classic and iconic style, prompting fashion comparisons to Jackie Kennedy.

Melania Trump finished her chic Presidential style with a classic, graceful updo swept away from her brow in a style that mirrored her husband’s coiffure.  The suede gloves Melania wore were also Ralph Lauren Collection, and her signature heels are baby blue stilettos from designer Manolo Blahnik.

This look is likely to be copied around the world, and is the first of many elegant fashion choices made by First Lady Melania Trump.  If you’d like to get a jump start on Melania’s style, here are some suggestions to help you get the look for less…

  1. I have been surfing online more than three hours nowadays, yet I never found any fascinating article like yours. It’s lovely value enough for me. Personally, if all site owners and bloggers made just right content as you did, the internet will probably be much more useful than ever before.
